A city is under constant development, and each period leaves its marks. People's ideas and assumptions reflected in our built environment. Today Skövde is a mosaic of buildings and environments from different periods. Everything from the cabin with roots in the 1700s to the 1960s Civic Hall. We wish you welcome to experience a selection of the historically valuable buildings in the center of Skövde.
Sektor Samhällsbyggnad.
In 1933-1934 Skövde City let construct the then new town hall with F.A. Neuendorf&Son as the architects. The new administrative building would – in addition to retail space on the ground floor – include facilities for the Poor Law Board and the superintendent with several police agencies. The house was ready for occupancy on October 1, 1934. In the 1950’s this building also housed facilities for the municipal mayor, the city planning office and the city council office. The building exterior with brick facades and the hipped tile roof is a good example of a public building characterized by the 1930’s retrospective on the 1920 classicist style.
