The main building in Heléns Park is the only secular building in Skövde that is preserved from the time before the big city fire in 1759. The cabin follows the medieval street network, and was never adapted to the new street network plan that Skövde got after the fire. The house was probably rebuilt or redecorated in 1846, but it may originate from the first part of the 1700’s or earlier. The name of the house comes from Sven Pettersson Helén and his wife Lotta that were the last people to live in the house. After Lottas death in 1916 Skövde municipality acquired the cabin. The house is a notable building since 1979. In the park you find several older buildings that were built after the fire. Only the timbered store house building has been moved here.
