A city is under constant development, and each period leaves its marks. People's ideas and assumptions reflected in our built environment. Today Skövde is a mosaic of buildings and environments from different periods. Everything from the cabin with roots in the 1700s to the 1960s Civic Hall. We wish you welcome to experience a selection of the historically valuable buildings in the center of Skövde.
Sektor Samhällsbyggnad.
In 1914 the merchant Edwin Jönsson built this large residential and commercial building designed by architect F.A. Neuendorf. The house would include two- and three bedroom apartments, and was equipped with an electrical passenger elevator – one of the first in Skövde. The building has an urban character and is one of Skövdes prime examples of national romanticism brick architecture. The highly decorative exterior including corner towers, decorative wrought iron balconies and the facade’s diligent detail work is largely intact.
